Giving Machines Create Early Christmas Gifts for Mother/Child Days

Christmas is a time of giving and a time for family. Since 2017, a global holiday initiative has combined these two cherished moments to create an interactive and unforgettable experience for parents and children, fostering the spirit of giving.

This innovative program is built around a unique twist on vending machines called, “Light the World Giving Machines.”  These machines are instrumental in a global fundraising campaign designed to create impactful moments for families and provide essential resources to people in need. Imagine providing a gift of clean water for a family in Africa and explaining to your children the impact of that $40 investment. Or discuss with your children how $30 could fund eye exams for a group of children halfway around the world, or $15 could purchase textbooks for students in South America. These pop-up vending machines offer a holiday experience unlike any other, helping people you may never meet. 

You are blessing strangers with a need at the press of a button for no other reason than you can. That’s the meaning of the holidays; sharing that with your child would be unforgettable. 

This year, Giving Machines will appear in 107 cities across 13 countries on five continents. For the first time, the initiative has expanded to Africa and Asia, continuing its mission of spreading joy and providing much-needed resources.

The program partners with over 500 local and international nonprofit organizations to provide essential clothing, food, shelter supplies, healthcare, education resources, and even livestock to support livelihoods. These partnerships enable the Giving Machine initiative to reach communities across the globe.

The Giving Machines encourage people to embrace the spirit of giving instead of receiving. For instance, an anonymous donation that might otherwise go to fast food can instead help feed a village or provide educational materials for children in need. Each Giving Machine offers postcards with nominal values and extraordinary gift options.

A swipe or tap unlocks the magic of these ruby-red vending machines, enabling donations ranging from $5 to $250. Thanks to the program’s commitment to covering operational expenses, every dollar contributed goes directly toward the intended gift and the designated recipients.

An additional benefit of visiting a Gifting Machine as a family is learning about the magnificent work of these crucial organizations and how they help the world. The global charities featured this year include The Academy for Creating Enterprise, American Red Cross, CARE, Catholic Relief Services, Church World Service, Days for Girls International, iDE Global, Lifting Hands International, MAP International, Mentors International, Right to Play, Save the Children, UNICEF, WaterAid, and the World Food Program. 

By participating in this initiative, families can embrace the message of sharing joy and extending love to others during the holiday season. To date, the Giving Machines have raised over $32 million for vital causes, helping ensure that everyone has not only a Merry Christmas but also a brighter future.
