Your Spiritual Health: Forgiveness and More

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”] [et_pb_row admin_label=”row”] [et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Recently, I have been heavily involved in a new book writing project, The Essential Oils Diet, that I wrote with my husband. It is focused on achieving Biblical abundance by taking steps toward a healthy diet and weight, healing your body from the damage done by the “chemical soup” that is so common today. However, just as important is our spiritual health, which is just as often damaged by bad habits and emotional baggage.

There are so many things that the world relies on you to handle. You have responsibilities at work and home and to your friends and family, which can make it difficult to take the time to focus on yourself and your own emotional well-being. As we are told in Proverbs 17:22, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Putting in the work for an emotional healing detox will affect all aspects of your life, giving you what you need to create the abundant life that God wants for you.

Emotional detox can be a bit of a journey, but it is so simple to start down this path by doing something that God has commanded all of us to do – forgive. Often this can be the first step toward  emotional healing for your heart and soul.

Focus on Forgiveness

In Matthew 5:23-24, Jesus says, “So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” God wants our minds and spirits clear when we worship, so He wants us to take care of our personal grievances and come before Him clean.

It is only natural to feel pain and hurt when someone does wrong to us or if we have a conflict, but hanging on to ill will and resentment can cause serious harm to you mentally, emotionally, and even physically. Just by letting go and forgiving others, we can release the stress and burden that we feel, leaving us mentally and emotionally lighter, which allows us to function better in every aspect of our lives.

Forgive Yourself Also

When working on forgiveness, don’t forget about yourself. Regret and shame for things past can affect you very deeply. Face the things that you have said or done that seem to weigh heavy on your emotions and accept that they are finished. Walk away, turning your eyes and thoughts from the past, moving forward toward all of the wonderful things that God has in store for you.

As you release the past and practice forgiveness, you’ll be feel lighter and less burdened, which will have a direct effect on your emotional and mental health, not to mention making you feel physically better. Your emotional detox has begun!
