Let’s begin 2025 with a desire and intention to more fully trust God with all we are and all we have. Trust comes from a growing relationship with the Triune God and a belief that His will is good. Here are seven prayers you can pray over your life to strengthen your trust in the new year.
“I am the Lord, and I do not change.” Malachi 3:6 NLT
How can praising God’s immutability or unchangeability help you to strengthen your trust? When we know and firmly believe that God is the same today as he was in the Bible, it can be easier to trust that God is still up to something good.
God is still in control, still loving, and still working to bring about His Kingdom of love and shalom.
God, you are the Lord of lords and the King of kings. You are the One Who created the universe and keeps it going. You never change. Thank you for being the dependable foundation for our faith and lives.
“Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentations 3:23 NLT
When we remember that each morning brings new mercies from our Heavenly Father, we can rest easier each night, knowing that every day is a new opportunity to follow Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit.
All of our failures and shortcomings are forgiven. We can trust God with our sins and confessions. He will grant us mercy and grace.
God, You are merciful and faithful to me. Thank you! Please help me to trust you with my sins, failures, mistakes, and shortcomings. Please guide me to freely confess and repent so that I may more fully walk in your mercy.
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NLT
By fully believing that God will provide, you can trust in Him to meet your needs and then some. God meets our spiritual, physical, financial, and emotional needs as well.
When we trust God to provide for us, we release the stress and anxiety of providing for ourselves. Instead of worrying about our needs, we can pray and trust God for His provision.
Jehovah Jireh, You are my Provider. Strengthen my trust in You for all that I need. Let my heart fully believe and rest in You to supply all my needs.
“I am the Lord who heals you.” Exodus 15:26 NLT
Do you fully believe that God is your healer? Sometimes, he uses doctors, medicines, or other ways, but ultimately, God is the One Who provides your health and healing.
When you trust in Him for health and healing, your stewardship of your body and health changes. Trust in God as a healer will deepen your connection with Him and your faith in the everyday.
Father God, thank You for healing me. Grow my trust so that I may confidently rely on You for my health and healing.
“This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalm 91:2, 4 NLT
We do many things to protect ourselves. When we strengthen our trust in God to protect us, we can use that energy and effort to love others instead.
By strengthening our trust in God as our protection, we can focus on those things we are called to do without the fear of being vulnerable standing in our way.
God, my shield, my refuge, my safety, free me to love others well by strengthening my trust in Your protection. Guide me in the peace of trusting You because I know that You will keep sheltering me.
“You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NLT
When we trust God’s will for our lives, we can more fully walk in our identity. Our identity is a gift, a blessing, and a calling to serve others and glorify God.
When we try to impress others or be someone other than who God has created us to be, we do not trust His unique design for us. By walking in your identity, you will daily take steps to trust who He made you to be and the purposes He created you to accomplish.
Creator, You created me with a purpose and intention. You knew what you were doing when you designed me. Before I could even worry about who I am, You sent Your Son to claim me and change my identity. Grow my trust in who You designed me to be so that I can point others to You.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NLT
One powerful way of strengthening our trust in God is by trusting even our thoughts and mindset to Him. When we allow Him to transform the way we think, our entire lives can change and become more abundant.
God has more for us than thinking the way the world would tell us to think. He wants to empower us to know truth, love, and kindness, even in our thoughts.
God, I want to trust you with my thoughts, but it is hard. I need your help. Equip me to take my thoughts captive and give them to You, believing that You will replace lies with truth and fear with Your love.
This list of prayers is not comprehensive. There are many more prayers you can pray to strengthen your trust in God in the new year. I invite you to seek scripture, especially about Who God is, to lead your prayers and grow your trust in Him.
