5 Ways to Be Anchored and Embrace Rest in God

As the sunlight peeked through the curtains, the thought of facing another day felt utterly overwhelming.

Have you ever battled anxiety and stress just to greet the morning? The weight of exhaustion seems to strap itself on me, pressing down on every part of my body.

I clung to the blanket, dreading the start of another chaotic day. “No, please don’t make me get up,” I whispered, seeking refuge in the covers. My days had become unmanageable, filled with confusion and a sense of unfulfillment.

What could bring clarity and peace to what had become an unanchored life?

In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to get caught up in the never-ending cycle of busyness. I had become Martha and lost the “good part” of sitting at Jesus’ feet. In my search for solace, I discovered the transformative power of soaking worship.

Soaking worship is a powerful and intimate way to connect with God. It involves setting aside the hustle and bustle of daily life to bask in His loving presence. It’s a sacred space where you may add worship music, lay down your worries, fears, and doubts, and simply be with your Creator. This intentional time with God is unhurried, and I postured my heart and mind to be filled with His strength, allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to me.

It was during this time of two-way exchange in soaking worship that clarity, focused direction, and inner peace started to return. I discovered that as I physically and mentally began to relax in God’s Presence, it restored my soul.

During this time, I did not need to perform. I was receiving unconditional love and experiencing a deeper relationship with God.

God wants you to receive all that He desires for your life and circumstances.

Resting is the gift He longs to bestow upon us, and soaking is one of the ways to embrace that rest and become anchored through the following:

Increases intimacy with God.

As we surrender to the rhythm of worship, we invite God to reveal Himself to us in new and profound ways. We begin to see the world through His eyes, and our perspective is transformed. We start to understand that we are not alone and that we are seen, heard, and loved by the One who created us. This realization sparks a sense of intimacy, a deepening of our relationship with God that affects every aspect of our lives. We begin to trust Him more, to lean on Him, and to seek His guidance in all things. In this place of intimacy, we find rest, comfort, and a sense of belonging that can’t be found anywhere else.

Fosters a deeper sense of gratitude.

Each person’s encounter with God is unique. Setting aside intentional, unhurried time for soaking worship helps prioritize what is truly important over the urgent demands of daily life. It distinguishes between the two and allows for meaningful engagement with God. In the chaos of our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to lose sight of the blessings that surround us.

When I get caught up in the hustle and bustle, constantly striving for more, I often forget to pause and appreciate the beauty in the present moment. Soaking worship and embracing rest can be a powerful antidote to this mindset, fostering a deeper sense of gratitude that permeates every aspect of our lives. As we slow down and tune in to the gentle whispers of our souls, we begin to recognize the intricate web of blessings that underpin our daily existence. This shift in perspective is nothing short of transformative, as it awakens us to the profound truth that we are already enough and that every breath is a gift. As we cultivate gratitude, we open ourselves up to a life of abundance, peace, and contentment, where every moment is infused with meaning and purpose.

Reduces stress and anxiety.

Our minds are constantly racing, our to-do lists are never-ending, and our bodies are screaming for a break. My friend,  there is a way to slow down, breathe deeply, and let go of the weight of the world. When I started to make intentional time for soaking worship, I soon learned how to quiet my mind, still my body, and focus on the experiences I encounter in God’s presence. I experienced a profound sense of calm and tranquillity. The stress and anxiety that once consumed me began to melt away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of peace and clarity. Research has shown that regular rest can lower cortisol levels, blood pressure, and heart rate while also improving mood and overall well-being.

Improves mental and physical health.

Did you know that regular times of rest and soaking worship into your life will bring significant improvement in both your mental and physical health? The stress, anxiety, and pressure that often accompany our fast-paced lives can lead to a myriad of health issues, from insomnia and digestive problems to depression and anxiety disorders. However, when we create space for rest and allow ourselves to be still in God’s presence, our bodies and minds begin to respond in remarkable ways. Not only does your blood pressure decrease, our immune systems are strengthened, and our minds clear from the fog of fatigue.

Enhances spiritual growth and maturity.

When we create space for rest and contemplation, we open ourselves up to the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit, guiding us toward a deeper understanding of God’s love and purpose for our lives. As we quiet our minds and posture our hearts, we become more receptive to the transformative power of God’s presence, allowing us to shed the old and put on the new. It is In this sacred space that we’re able to confront and overcome spiritual strongholds, break free from patterns of sin and shame, and discover a more authentic, Christ-centered identity.

As we come to the end of our journey through these life-changing benefits of soaking worship and embracing rest for an anchored life, it is essential to remember that revival is not a destination but a continual process. It’s a path that requires commitment and surrender to our Savior, which builds trust in His goodness. In a world that glorifies busyness and productivity, embracing rest can feel like a radical act of faith. But it’s in these moments of stillness, silence and surrender that we can truly experience the transformative power of God’s presence.
